Alexandra Flood


Australian coloratura soprano Alexandra Flood made her professional European opera debut in June 2014 as a young artist at the Salzburg Festival, where she sang the roles of Blonde (cover Konstanze) in Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail für Kinder, Modistin in Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier with the Vienna Philharmonic, and Clorinda in Rossini’s La Cenerentola . In May 2015, Alexandra gave her German debut as Marguerite in Le Petit Faust (Hervé) with the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz,
Munich. October saw Alexandra perform the title role in Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen in Sydney.   Early 2016, Alexandra reprised her Blonde as a guest artist at the Vorarlberger Landestheater in Bregenz, Austria, and made her orchestral concert debut as the soprano lead ‘Edna’ in Jonathan Dove’s “church-opera” Tobias and the Angel with the Münchener Rundfunkorchester and conductor Ulf Schirmer. Following spring in Europe, Alexandra starred as the guest soloist in the Queensland Ballet and Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s production of Strictly Gershwin, before travelling to Amsterdam to make her dream-role debut as Violetta in Traviata Remixed, Opera Front’s new production in Moritz Eggert’s arrangement, directed by Lotte de Beer.   In the Northern Summer 2016, Alexandra was a Studio Artist at Wolf Trap Opera. Alexandra performed Sepetta in La finta Giardiniera at the Niedersächsische Musiktage in Hannover, before travelling to Spain to feature at the opening concert of the Mallorca Music Festival. Following performances on a cruise of the Pacific with renowned opera star Kiri Te Kanawa. Alexandra made her Polish debut as Norina in Don Pasquale at Opera Krakow in December 2016, opposite Mariusz Kwiecień.   In 2017, Alexandra rejoint Opera Front and Lotte de Beer for the world premiere of Moritz Eggert’s Caliban, as part of the Opera Forward Festival, presented by the Dutch National Opera. In May, Alexandra performed Maria/West Side Story in Bolzano, Italy, along with many other roles and concerts in Holland, Austria, Germany and Australia. Later this season she will return to Bregenz to sing Norina and she will make her debut at the Victorian Opera in Melbourne as Jemmy/William Tell.   Other roles and solo performances include Musetta/La bohème, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Saint-Saëns’ Oratorio de Noël, Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Die Jahreszeiten and Vaughan Williams’ A Pastoral Symphony and Mozart’s Missa Brevis.   Alexandra is generously supported by the siaa-Foundation and the Australian Music Foundation.
