Dario Russo


After graduating in Russian and German Languages and Literatures the Italian bass Dario Russo began his vocal studies with M° Carlo Miliciani and attended several master classes with Bill Schuman, Meinard Kraak, the baritone Carmelo Corrado Caruso and Silvano Carroli his present teacher. In 2008 Dario Russo won the 'Progetto Opera Junior' of the Teatro Carlo Felice of Genova and in the same year he was selected as guest member of the Opera Studio Nederland of Amsterdam. eason saw Dario Russo ingaged in the leading role of Verdi's Attila, as Enrico VIII in Donizzetti's Anna Bolena both at the Teatro Bellini of Catania, as the Count of Walter in Luisa Miller of Verdi at the Teatro San Carlo of Naples and in the Rossini's Stabat Mater again for the Teatro Bellini of Catania. In the same season Dario Russo sang as Ramfis in a Zeffirelli's production of Verdi's Aida for the Teatro of Ascoli and at the Teatro Lirico of Cagliari. While recently he was invited at the Rossini Festival in Wildbad to sing the role of Procida for the world premiere of Vespro siciliano of Peter Joseph von Lindpaintner. In september Dario Russo was Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor alongside Jessica Pratt at the Teatro Del Monaco of Treviso. In April and June 2014 he sang the role of Oroveso in Norma at the Teatro Lirico of Cagliari and at the Teatro Massimo of Palermo. In March Dario Russo sang at the ROH of Muscat in I Capuleti e i Montecchi as Lorenzo. In February was invited from the Teatro dell'Opera of Rome to sing in the Petite Messe Solennelle of Rossini. In Jannuary Dario Russo sang at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Nabucco (High Prist of Belo). In 2013 Dario Russo sang in Teatro San Carlo of Naples as the King in Aida. He took part to a production of I Capuleti e i Montecchi as Lorenzo for the Fondazione Arena di Verona. In October same year at the Teatro Verdi of Pisa Dario Russo was Padre guardiano in La forza del destino. In september he was invited from the Haydn Orchester of Bozen to sing the Verdi's Requiem. In June same year Dario Russo sang the role of Polibio for the Teatro San Carlo of Naples in the Rossini's opera Demetrio e Polibio. In the same year he sang the role of the Vieillard hebreu at the Teatro dell'Opera of Rome in Samson et Dalila directed from La Fura dels Baus, Dario Russo was the Commendatore in Don Giovanni for Opera Basel and the Sire of Bethune in Vespri Siciliani for the ABAO (Bilbao). In 2012 Dario Russo took part in the role of the Hoteliêr in a production of Manon of Massenet (dir. Laurent Pelly, cond. Luisi) at the Teatro alla Scala in Milano. In the same year Dario Russo debuted at the Teatro San Carlo of Napoli as Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor under the baton of M° Nello Santi and in the same Theater as Moser in I Masnadieri. In April at the Teatro Verdi of Trieste he sang the role of Colline in the opera La bohéme. Last engagements for the year 2012 were Timur in Turandot (Teatro Campoamor, Oviedo), Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor (AsLiCo Milano) Capulet in Romeo et Juliette of Gounod and Gran Sacerdote di Belo in Nabucco (Teatro Comunale, Sassari). In 2011 Dario Russo took part to the productions of Vespri siciliani (Sire di Bethune) and Traviata (Dottor Grenvil) at the Teatro Regio of Torino, as well to the Lucia di Lammermoor (Raimondo) at the Teatro Verdi of Trieste and debuted in Un ballo in maschera (Tom) at the Sferisterio Opera Festival of Macerata. In September same year he debuted at the Teatro Donizetti of Bergamo in Gemma di Vergy (Rolando). In October and November Dario Russo sang the role of Oroveso in Norma at the Teatro Comunale of Sassari and in Gozo at the Teatro Astra, while in December sang the role Zuniga in Carmen at the Royal Opera House of Muscat. In February 2010 Dario Russo played the role of Wagner in Faust of Gounod and sang the role of Wächter der Druiden in Die erste Walpurgisnacht at the Teatro Massimo V. Bellini of Catania, furthermore he took part to the Traviata (Dottor Grenvil) floated by the MGF. In October Dario Russo debuted in Vespri Siciliani as Bethune for the Festival Verdi at the Teatro Regio of Parma. In November 2010 Dario Russo sang the role of Zio Bonzo in Madama Butterfly for the Fondazione Spontini-Pergolesi of Jesi. In 2009 at the Gran Teatre Liceu of Barcelona he sang as Hans Foltz in Die Meistersinger von Nuernberg (dir. Claus Guth, cond. S. Weigle) and as Don Fernando in Fidelio. In the same year Dario Russo sang as Monterone in Verdi’s Rigoletto at the Obidos Opera Festival in Portugal. Dario Russo debuted for the Teatro Carlo Felice of Genua the role of Lorenzo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi of Bellini directed from Robert Carsen under the conduct of Donato Renzetti, in the same year he sang as Banquo in Verdi’s Macbeth at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam (RBO Sinfonia, dir Robbert van Stijn) and Zaccaria in a production of Nabucco in Dordrecht at the Kunstmin Schouwburg. In 2008 he sang as Orosmane in Zaira of Bellini and in La Sonnambula during the Japanese tourneè of the Teatro Vincenzo Bellini of Catania at the Bunka Kaj Kan of Tokyo and at the Aichi Geijutsu Gekijo of Nagoya. In the same year Dario Russo played the role of the Commendatore in Don Giovanni in Rosenheim. Dario Russo develops as well a prolific concert activity, among which stand out his appearances in Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, in Verdi’s Requiem, in Dvorak's Stabat Mater, in Die Erste Walpurgisnacht of Mendelssohn, in Colombo of Gomes, in Haendel’s Coronation Anthems in the Messe Solennelle and Stabat Mater of Rossini and in the Mozart’s Requiem.
