Lisenka Heijboer (1991) is a Dutch-Peruvian stage director who, after having studied Theatre Studies, worked as Lotte de Beers assistant and co-director on multiple productions. Besides working with De Beer she assisted stage directors like Pierre Audi, Krzysztof Warlikowski, Monique Wagemakers and Laurent Pelly. Lisenka made her debut in 2016, directing Die Sieben Todsünden at Paradiso and later, in 2017 she directed La Voix Humaine for the Young Dutch Artists program of the Concertgebouw. Las
t season she created Achter Auftritt, a new short opera researching the relationship between Pamina and Queen of the Night as part of Rewriting Zauberflöte, a project by Operafront that encouraged directors and writers to reflect upon the libretto of Die Zauberflöte. For the NJO Muziekzomer and the Grachtenfestival 2018 she created Over Orpheus, a movement theatre piece on grief in collaboration with choreographer Peter Leung. After taking part in the Opera in Creation Workshop “Reflection” at the Académie du Festival d’Aix in the summer of 2018, she started a collaboration with composer Meriç Artaç and playwright Frank Siera. They are currently working on a new opera for the Grachtenfestival celebrating a 100 years of women’s voting rights in the Netherlands. Besides this project she will direct a semi staged Parsifal at the Bochumer Symphoniker in April as well as assist Pierre Audi on Aus Licht, a production premiering at the Holland festival in May. In June she will direct the third edition of the International Young Patrons Circle Gala at Dutch National Opera & Ballet together with choreographer Peter Leung.
